Une famille qui déménage de Paris pour profiter de plus d’espace et d’un jardin, l’achat d’une maison à Auvers-sur-Oise: le début d’un nouveau projet tout simplement.
La construction de l’atelier / studio a une importance particulière dans le projet. En effet, la parcelle en forme de L éloigne la maison du jardin: il devient donc important de créer un lieu à habiter s’ouvrant vers le jardin pour en profiter au maximum. De plus, la famille souhaite de cette manière agrandir la maison pour créer un nouvel espace exploitable pour travailler (atelier d’arts plastiques) et héberger de temps à autre des amis.
L’atelier met en relation deux activités différentes (habiter et travailler). Ainsi, il s’organise en deux parties qui s’articulent autour d’un noyau (salle d’eau / kitchenette) et s’ouvrent totalement sur le jardin.
Pour avoir le moins d’impact possible sur le contexte (mur en pierre de faible hauteur et centre bourg typique du Parc du Vexin Français), l’atelier est conçu en ossature bois et bardage zinc pour mieux s’intégrer dans le jardin. Le toit suit en parallèle la pente du mur mitoyen et se retire de celui-ci en minimisant l’impact de la surélévation et en créant un puits de lumière dans l’atelier.

A family moving out of Paris in search of more space and a garden found their new beginning with the purchase of a house in Auvers-sur-Oise—a project that unfolded quite naturally.
A key element of this project is the construction of an atelier/studio. Because the L-shaped plot separates the house from the garden, it became essential to create a living space that opens directly onto the garden, making the most of the outdoor environment. At the same time, the family wished to expand the house to include a versatile space: a place to work (as a visual arts studio) and occasionally host friends.
The atelier bridges two distinct functions—living and working. It is therefore organized into two volumes connected by a central core (bathroom and kitchenette) and fully open to the garden.
To minimize its impact on the surrounding context—defined by low stone walls and the historic character of the Vexin Français regional park—the studio is built with a timber frame and clad in zinc, ensuring a natural integration into the garden. The roof follows the slope of the adjoining wall while stepping back from it, reducing the perception of height and creating a skylight that floods the interior with natural light.
