La ville du Coudray souhaite créer une nouvelle maison des associations sur le site Gérard Philipe, en complément des équipements existants. Le bâtiment, de 550 m² s’intégrera harmonieusement dans son environnement en tenant compte du cône de visibilité de la cathédrale de Chartres et des contraintes paysagères.
Situé en limite Est du terrain, le bâtiment adopte une forme allongée afin de préserver les vues et les relations avec la salle Gérard Philipe. Les accès piétons et véhicules sont pensés pour fluidifier la circulation et créer un parvis commun.
La distribution intérieure oppose les espaces calmes (sanitaires, rangements, salle informatique) à l’Est, et les activités plus dynamiques (musique, activités collectives) à l’Ouest, bénéficiant de larges ouvertures sur le paysage. Un hall central structure l’ensemble et permet une autonomie d’usage de la grande salle.
Le projet repose sur une structure poteau-poutre béton modulaire facilitant d’éventuelles extensions. Une toiture terrasse unitaire, avec larges débords, assure confort thermique et continuité visuelle avec la salle Gérard Philipe.
Ce projet propose un lieu fonctionnel, évolutif et intégré à son environnement, favorisant la vie associative locale tout en valorisant le site de la cathédrale.

The town of Le Coudray plans to create a new community center for local associations on the Gérard Philipe site, complementing the existing facilities. The 550 m² building will integrate harmoniously into its surroundings, carefully respecting the visibility cone of Chartres Cathedral and the site’s landscape constraints.
Located along the eastern edge of the plot, the building adopts an elongated form to preserve views and maintain a strong relationship with the Gérard Philipe hall. Pedestrian and vehicle access points are designed to streamline circulation and create a shared forecourt.
Inside, the layout distinguishes between quieter functions—such as restrooms, storage, and a computer room—positioned to the east, and more dynamic activities—such as music and group events—placed to the west with wide openings onto the landscape. A central hall structures the building and ensures the large multipurpose room can operate independently.
The project is based on a modular concrete post-and-beam system, allowing for potential extensions. A unifying flat roof with wide overhangs provides thermal comfort while visually connecting the new building with the Gérard Philipe hall.
This project proposes a functional, adaptable, and context-sensitive venue that supports local community life while enhancing the cathedral’s historic setting.
